Women In Journalism was Women In Work's first speaker event of the year, welcoming three high profile journalists into Hotel Du Vin in April 2018. The evening began with a wine and canapés networking reception, followed by two hours of presentations, panel discussion and Q&A from the audience of over 70 people.

Dame Frances Cairncross, one of the world's foremost Economics and Business management journalists, has spent her career working at the Observer, The Guardian and at the Economist as its management editor.

​

Charlotte Hume is a world-leading communications and media consultant for public and private sector organisations. She started as a television correspondent, having joined ITN's graduate training scheme on graduating from the University of Oxford, covering many major news stories for the corporation such as the 9/11 attacks and the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.

Finally, we welcomed Sabina Castelfranco, a journalist based in Rome, who extensively covers major news stories, including the trial of Amanda Knox. She has contributed stories as a freelancer to most major international media outlets including BBC, CNN, PBS, CBC, Al Jazeera, Voice of America, and Discovery Channel.
